A few days ago, Ressa Empbra contacted me for a review for her new book, “The Dragon Dimension”. I thought that this book is interesting so I accepted. Now, I wanted to let you all know about the book and… a special interview with a special character. Enjoy!

The Syndicate-Shelena Shorts

I received this book from Shelena as an ARC.Thanks,Shelena!

I really ,really enjoyed this book.I read it on the beach,and this made it very special for me.I have to recognize that I didn’t expect to like it THAT much.The blurb attracked me because of the Romanian names and because of the Syndicate.I was very curious to find out what’s the deal with the Syndicate.

Once I started it,I was surprised:better than I thought!First,it’s very easy to read.I read 100 pages in like 2 hours,which is a record for me.It’s very easy to read because Shelena excluded the long ,boaring describes.And the pace is sometime alert,sometimes slow.

In the beginning ,Shelena doesn’t share  a lot of things about the Syndicate.The book starts with a discussion between Henri and Vasi .In this discussion,the author didn’t put any information about the Syndicate or about what’s going on and the curiosity kept me reading.Everything it’s brought to light from the dialogues.

There were many dialogues ,which made the book easier to read.Some of the dialogues were funny,some intense and some…well,some were weird.

It was strange and funny to find Romanian names in a book written in English.Why strange?Because,well,you don’t read every day a story with so many Romanian names and so many connection with Romania.And funny because   sentences like “Vasile,it’s the time” sound funny,doesn’t it?

Shelena built a smart connection with Romania.It was interesting to read a story which revolves around Romania and I was very pleased when I found out that Vasi is Romanian.

The story and the concept of Hybrids are very cool.Shelena proved a lot of imagination creating this story.But I don’t think that the characters are very well created.Maybe I didn’t pay enough attention,but I can’t remember how does Vasi or others characters look like.Instead we get to know their behaviours by reading .

Another thing that I liked at this book was the love story between Vasi and Riley.The link between them was so strange,but so romantic.And I liked Riley very much.At some poing ,I suspected her for something,but I finally find out the turth.

In the conclusion,”The Syndicate” is a good book.I rated it with 5 stars on Goodreads!

Vasile “Vasi” Petrescu is an eightenn-years-old Romanian boy.His parents were murdered three years ago and now he is alone with his sister.They are part of the Syndicate,and they are living with the other members in the Syndicate.Oh,but you’re asking what the Syndicate is,right?The Syndicate is a secret organization which is formed by the Readers,the Elders,the Guards and other people with skills .They are killing the Hybrids.The Hybrids were humans who were infected by other Hybrids.Now they are something like werewolves and very dangerous for humans.The Syndicate kills them.

One day,Henri gathers all the members in a meeting.The Readers,who have visions with the Hybrids,write down every Hybrid they saw and then give the papers to Henri.He gives to all the Guards(including Vasi) a few papers.Vasi receives 2 sheets of paper.Rosie,his sisters is Vasi’s Scout  and she finds out everything about the 2 Hybrids.One of them is killed easily by Vasi,but the other one is a…female.And it’s not Hybrid.Vasi doesn’t want to kill her because the Syndicate has a rule which is not allowing them to kill females.When the main character asks Henri about what’s going on,Henri tells him that the entire Syndicate is in danger because of this girl.Vasi has to kill her,even if he doesn’t want to.

He tries to kill her.He goes to her house and try it.But he can’t.This girl is so innocent and so beautiful,and so…He just can’t kill her.

Riley is clueless about all these things with the Syndicate and the Hybrids and so on.Vasi tells her everything,and somehow,she belives him.

But the girl is in danger.While Vasi was at her house,more Hybrids try to kill Riley ,but Vasi,like a super hero,saves her.Now ,he tries to figure out why the Hybrids are haunting her and what is so dangerous at this innocent girl.In the meanwhile,without knowing why,Vasi protects her.And soon,they fall in love with each other.

Do you think that Vasi will find out everything?Do you wanna know if Vasi and Riley will be a couple?Then you have to read this book!

Dark Storm-Sarah Singleton

First,a huge “THANK YOU!” to Sarah Singleton who sent me this book.Thanks,Sarah!

Well,I really loved this book!When I first saw it on Goodreads,I thought “WOW!What a stunning cover!” and then I read the blurb and I knew it will be a good book.But I never expected to be THAT good!I was like  “OMG,this is AWESOME!LOVE IT!”

I liked this book because it it’s the weirdest love story I ever read!It’s a love story between a girl and…a ghost.Yup,a ghost.I thought this too.How could they love each other?Well,if you’ll read this story,you’ll understand that everything it’s possible,even a love between a girl and a ghost.

I enjoyed this book also because of the atmosphere.It was so romantic,and full of emotions and this things with the teather club was awesome.Also,the misterious element was always present in this book.Sara Singleton knows how to hook you so you love her books.I am very curious about her other book,I’d really like to read them.

I really liked the storyline.It was continous,and very easy to read.The pages were flying and I was unconcious about this.I read and I read and I was so hooked that everything  around me disappeared and I was just me with my book.

Once again,through this book,I realized how much can someone’s death affect.The main character’s mom died by cancer and Ellie is now devastated.Her feelings were so well described that I cried every time she talked about her mother’s death and about how much It hurts and stuff like that.Same,when Ellie spoked about her feeling about Harry,it was so sweet and you felt that she really loves him.Awesome!

The characters were well portrayed.It was easy to like them,because they are like some normal teenagers.I appreciated that Alex,one of Ellie’s friend and a potentialy boyfirend wasn’t exactly the hot guy whom we were used to from the others books.He is sweet,protective and lovely.Also he wasn’t this tipe of bad guy who everone falls in love with.She was a normal guy in the middle of a strange story.

This book was also unpredictable.Always there was something that surprised me and that contradicted my expectations.The almost happy end was also unpredictable.I never expected that this book will have a happy ending.And even if I did,it wasn’t like I imagined.

Ellie’s life is turned upside down.Her mom died a year and something ago and her dad has a new girlfriend already.Because she hates the women that takes her mother place,she goes for holiday at her grandparents.

One day,Ellie is walking and she sees an adertise that says  something about a theater club.While she was reading,a strange boy walks toward her and speaks with her.He says that this teather club is fun and that Ellie should join too.The boy knows about Ellie’s story,like everybody in the town.Alex-this is boy’s name- stalks her a little,and trying to “escape” from him,she get in a second-hand bookship.There,she discoveres a weird folder.When she and the bookshop man look at it,Ellie knows that this folder,which is a model theatre  with a script in it,must be her and she buys it.And that’s when the story begins.

In that night,after  many examinations of the model theatre,she sees a name of an actor:Harry.The play is Romeo and Juliet.Anyway,after she fell asleep,a special  scent floods her room.She’ll never forget that scent.It wil mark her life.The scent it seems like is coming from nowhere…strange.But more strange is when she finds in her  notebook words that she didn’t write.The words say :

“You are beautiful.What is your name?”

Ellie writes her name there and she is scared and excited and confused.She is thrilled when she finds more word written on her notebook.She lerns that the one who writes in her notebook is Harry,the actor who played in Romeo and Juliet,Harry.But he is dead,how could he write in Ellie’s notebook?If you want the answer,just read the book.

Soon,Ellie falls in love with Harry.A deep love.She’ll find out a lot of things about him,about her mother and even maybe about herself.And if you ask,yes,she joins the theater club.And she really likes it,because she makes friends.

If you want to find more about Harry,Ellie and their beautiful love story,read the book because oh boy,I already told enough!

Paranormalcy-Kiersten White

Well,I never thought that after I’ll read “Paranormalcy” I’ll be so excited about it.I really loved this book.I still love it.

“Paranormalcy” was something fresh.News characters,new style-writing,new story.And everything was so cool,so…light.I felt so happy when I was reading “Paranormalcy”,but I don’t know why.

This book it was one of the books that you can’t get out of your head.The story and the characters get under your skin.This is one of the best thing about “Paranormalcy”.The characters are soo well created that you love them immediately.I felt a connection with Evie and I truly liked Lish.I wanted to have a good friend like Lish and a boyfriend like Lend.

In Kiersten’s  style-writing I found something that hooked me and made me wanna read the book continuously.She writes like a teenager and she pays attention on every detail that matters.She describes everything so well that sometimes makes you imagine exactly what she describes. J

“Paranormalcy” is the typical fantasy novel-vampires,werewolfes,shapeshifters,faeries and a secret organizations.Isn’t this awesome?I loved this so much!I really needed a novel like this,but I don’t know why…Lately,I read just fantasy,but “Paranormalcy” was something else,something special. <3

Even if Evie seems the normal heroine from a fantasy novel,who is invincible ,she is a normal teenager.Actually,she wants to be normal.She wants to have a prom,along with a locker(this is so funny!:)) ) and driving license and a boyfriend.She is obsessed with pink.Yep,with pink.She’s normal,isn’t she?

What captivated me the most was the relationship between Lend and Evie.They were perfect together and I love them!

Filled with action,romance,paranormal and humor,”Paranormalcy” will hook you from the beginning until the last word.You won’t put down this amazing book until you won’t finish it,and when you’ll do it,you’ll want to start it again,like I wanted. J

Evie is a girl who has 16 years old.She likes pink and “Easton Heights”.She has troubels with her ex,Reth.Which,by the way,is a faerie.Did I mention that Evie works in a secret organization,IPCA?When she was 8,they hired her because Evie has a special power:she sees the paranormals “clear”.This means that even a paranormal wants to fool her,she can see the “truth”.So this helped IPCA in discovering the paranormals.

She always wanted to have a normal life…a prom,a locker,a friend who’s not a mermaid,like Lish.But she likes to belive she’s normal.Until she meets Lend.

Lend is a shapeshifter.He tried to sneak in the Center,but he was caught by Evie.After he was locked in a room,Evie and Lend …well,they spend time together.They have fun together.They laugh together.And soon,Evie finds out that she really like Lend.His eyes like water,his skin like water,his hair,his laugh,everything it’s so great…and he is soo beautiful and funny and…well,I’ll let you find out the rest.

But things are more complicated then seems.Evie has weird dreams.And the paranomrals are dying.

Evie is trying now to figure out what’s happening.But,in the meanwhile,she has to deal with Reth,who makes her life harder.She’s afraid of him and she tries to avoid him,but it seems like Reth can take everythin Evie does or says in his advantage.

Plus,she finds out something about her that casts all her past .Could she make everything  out?Just read the book.

Weird as it is working for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, Evie’s always thought of herself as normal. Sure, her best friend is a mermaid, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, she’s falling for a shape-shifter, and she’s the only person who can see through paranormals’ glamours, but still. Normal.

Only now paranormals are dying, and Evie’s dreams are filled with haunting voices and mysterious prophecies. She soon realizes that there may be a link between her abilities and the sudden rash of deaths. Not only that, but she may very well be at the center of a dark faerie prophecy promising destruction to all paranormal creatures.

So much for normal.

NELY CAB locuieşte în sudul Texasului împreună cu soţul şi fiul ei. În afară de scris, lui Nely îi place să deseneze şi să picteze. Copacul de pe coperta acestei cărţi este o dovadă a talentului lui Nely.
